Lea County Volunteer Firefighter Application

LEA COUNTY HAS 3 VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS
-KNOWLES, MALJAMAR, & MONUMENT-

We are seeking motivated individuals that have an interest in firefighting and the exciting, unique experiences while serving your community!

Lea County Volunteer Fire Departments are composed of volunteers who perform fire suppression and other related emergency services for local jurisdictions. Volunteer Fire Departments most often cover a large area and respond to calls involving motor vehicle accidents, structure fires, wildfires, and industrial emergencies. According to the National Fire Protection Association, 65% of firefighters in the United States were members of Volunteer Fire Departments in 2020. Knowles, Maljamar, and Monument are currently seeking new members that are interested in serving our growing communities.

KFD Station # 2: 5510 West Alabama Street, Hobbs, NM 88242
Meetings every Thursday @ 7pm

The Knowles Volunteer Fire Department won't be following trends but setting the pace for everyone else. Knowles Fire Station # 1 is located off Highway 132 on Pinson Rd and covers a large area both North of Hobbs and East of Lovington. They stand ready to respond to any emergency in their district and provide exceptional service to their community when called. Enjoy fellowship? Maljamar Volunteer Fire Department

Meetings every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 6pm

Maljamar Volunteer Fire Department is located at the West end of Lea County and have a large response area. Maljamar Fire must always be prepared for an array of situations which include motor vehicle accidents, grass fires, and oilfield related incidents/fires to name of few. Maljamar Fire stands ready for any emergency situation and is proud to serve their community. Like off-roading and giant 4x4s? Maljamar Fire is for you!

Lea County will begin construction of MVFD's first substation located at the entrance to Zip Franklin Airport just west of Lovington off Highway 82 in 2023!

Monument Volunteer Fire Department

Monument Volunteer Fire Department is located in Monument, NM and covers a large area toward the middle of the county. Monument can experience any type of emergency event and it's experienced volunteer fire service is ready for any task big or small. Monument Fire stands ready to meet the needs of a growing population and the challenges that brings. Monument VFD has an amazing training facility on-site to perfect your firefighting skills and hosts trainings several times a year!
