Open 4-D Barrel Race

DRESS CODE ENFORCED: NBHA rules and dress code apply; Contestants appearance must be neat, clean and professional. Any contestant whose appearance is deemed unprofessional will receive a NO TIME. Contestants must wear long sleeve shirts that are collared and have either buttons, snaps or a full-length zipper on the front of the shirt. Jeans without holes, western boots and western hat (helmets are acceptable for all competitions) must be worn for all rodeo performances and slack.

1. Mailed entries must be RECEIVED by Friday, July 24, 2020. NO EXCEPTIONS and NO postmark dates will apply or be accepted. Must be received by MC Productions LLC 5325 N JaRob Lane, Hobbs, NM 88242.

2. Pre-draw will be posted by end of day on Thursday, July 30, 2020.

3. Vet/doctor release accepted until July 31, 2020, at 12pm. Email release to mcproductionsllc2019@gmail.com

4. Books open at 5:30pm, August 3rd, 2020 for on-site entry (with late fee) and close at 7:30pm. Race begins at 8 PM.

5. Entry form, signed release of liability, and payment must be received before entry is accepted as complete and contestant is entered in the draw. Minors must have release of liability signed by parent. Forms are available on the Lea County Fair website www.leacounty.net, MC Productions LLC Facebook Page and via email request at mcproductionsllc2019@gmail.com.

6. A $35.00 returned check fee will be charged on all returned checks. Personal checks are accepted by mail until the July 24th deadline ONLY.

7. Contestants may enter up to 4 different horses during Monday night’s 4D qualifier. A horse may only enter one time and may not be ridden by different riders.

8. The top two (2) runners from each division return for the ONE NIGHT SHOOTOUT ROUND on Wednesday, August 5, 2020.
9. One winner from each division will be awarded $500 cash and a trophy buckle following Wednesday night’s performance. If there are no qualifying runs in a division, no money or buckle will be awarded.

10. Contestants will run immediately following the PRCA Barrel performance. Run order for our eight (8) runners will be:
• 1st and 2nd place 1D qualifiers
• 1st and 2nd place 2D qualifiers
• 1st and 2nd place 3D qualifiers
• 1st and 2nd place 4D qualifiers

11. Only one run per person in Shootout Round. For example, if Jane Doe qualifies on a 1D horse and a 2D horse, she will designate which horse/D she will ride in the shootout round and MC Productions will move up the next qualifying horse/rider combination to fill the vacant spot.

12. Failure to enter the arena within the first three (3) gate calls will result in a NO TIME.

13. Contestants must keep a forward motion. No circling in the arena or alley.

14. Contestants will receive a NO TIME for knocking over a barrel or breaking the pattern. If a rider circles a barrel more than one time they will receive a $50 fine.

15. Absolutely NO switching of draw positions. It is the contestant’s responsibility to know their horses’ draw position. Contestants switching draw positions on their horses will receive a NO TIME. If a contestant runs out of turn; they will receive a NO TIME.

16. Payout will be completed at the end of Monday’s race and following Wednesday’s PRCA performance. Winner(s) must fill out a W-9 to pick up winnings.

13. Monday night race payout will be regular race payout of 80%. Wednesday shootout is $500 cash to each D winner.

14. Open 4D Barrel Race is a random computer draw.

15. Inclement weather: Lea County Emergency rules pertain: If lightening is within less than 5 miles of facility, delays will be in 30-minute increments until cleared or notified to cancel and reschedule. If Barrel Race is cancelled and rescheduled due to inclement weather or safety issues, every effort will be made to coordinate with Lea County Fair personnel to reschedule around all other events already scheduled. Draw outs allowed due to inclement weather will be refunded, entry fees only, if Barrel Race personnel are notified by deadline set at time of cancellation or rescheduling. Money will not be figured in payouts. If draw out after inclement weather designated deadline, no refund will be made, and money will be figured in payouts. Every effort will be made to ensure contestants know draw out deadline due to inclement weather at time of cancellation.
