Mission Statement

The Knowles Fire Department is a Volunteer Fire and EMS organization dedicated to the preservation of life and property of the citizens and visitors of Lea County.

OBJECTIVES

Shift beyond one person control to a "Team" approach.

To meet our future challenges and opportunities, we must move beyond our old-style leadership and create a culture that empowers, encourages and supports our personnel to take leadership roles. To manage effectively, we must be willing to delegate tasks and authority to subordinates. I.E.; If you don't give the ball to your teammates, you will soon be sacked.

Shift beyond an individual focus to a "Team" focus.

While we will continue to have our individual and work group responsibilities, we must all share a "TEAM" understanding of where we are going and how we plan to get there.

Shift beyond what we have, or do now to a community driven approach.

We have an outstanding reputation for excellence. We must continue our commitment to excellence while providing the services our community wants and needs.

Shift beyond short-term focus to managing from the future.

Far reaching goals require us to create the future now. This shift in thinking is a call to manage today from the future. Just looking at the rest of this year or even into next year is not good enough. "Good Enough Never Is"

Shift beyond training to learning.

We have always been committed to training, but continuous learning should be a part of our culture that prepares our personnel to be at the leading edge of our trade, developing skills and competencies before they are needed. Practice does not make perfect; Perfect practice makes perfect.

The KNOWLES FIRE DEPARTMENT won't be following trends, but setting the pace for everyone else.
